Aircrews, After months of relentless ops in Operation Prevailing Liberty Phase 1, the v303 Fighter Squadron and v93 Fighter Squadron have flown their final leg from Kandahar Air Base, landing safely back at Nellis AFB. The flightline came alive with cheers as our jets taxied in—families waving signs, kids jumping up and down, and our crews clapping each other on the back. It’s the homecoming we’ve all been waiting for, and it feels dang good to have our people back home where they belong.

Commander’s Remarks: “To the members of the v303FS and v93FS, You flew into the fight, took care of business to the best of your ability, and reacted dynamically to the threat out there in Afghanistan. Phase 1 is in the books because of your grit and heart for DCS. Now, it’s time to take a knee, and ease back into Nellis life. We’ll get after it again soon with Class 25-01 training sorties this week, but for now, soak in the dedicated time you invested into the Operation Prevailing Liberty campaign, you earned it. Welcome home.”

The squadrons seeking some much-needed crew rest after months in the sandbox. They’ll decompress, shake off the combat tempo, and gear up to train the next wave of pilots starting with Class 25-01. This officially closes out Phase 1 of Operation Prevailing Liberty.
Thanks to all that participated.

Those that flew over 40% of OPL combat lines, will be awarded the Campaigns Medal and Ribbon.
