My name is Roger. I wish to thank you for allowing me to join the v303FG. I’m looking forward to a great time and becoming proficient in the A-10C.
Military Service
I am Retired US Air Force (1991) with 22 years of service. I joined in 1969 as enlisted and was assigned to a Logistics AFSC in ATC and SAC. In 1971, I went to OTS at Maxwell, then converted AFSC to a Computer Systems Analyst - a relatively new career field at the time. I had many assignments - most hardly 2 years at a time. I’m most proud of my assignments with NATO working Crypto tasks, the USAFE GLCM Deployment and Beddown Program, and the USAFE Logistics Computer Systems Replacement Program.
Simulation Background
I began simulating with SSI and SST tabletop gaming in the early 70’s and transitioned to flight sims as computers and flightsim “games” became available. There were many titles back in those days and many I can remember now, but, I was instantly hooked on cloud surfing. My first real commitment to group flying was with CFS2. Then I moved to IL2 in Nov 2001. I also picked up LOMAC during those days and tried to get into fast-movers too. When DCS arrived on the scene, I really liked what I saw and where that sim was headed. When I wasn’t flying a Mustang in IL2, was was trying to get into flying in DCS - with the A-10A.
Hobbies
When I’m not flying around in the skies, I’m usually flying around on the ground. I contracted a disease called “hot rodding” at an early age and I got sucked into the “Corvette” family. I’ve owned a ‘63, ‘64, ‘68 (brutish 427ci Tri-Carb monster), ‘72, ‘05, and currently a 2011 427ci Z06. I club-raced in the SCCA Hillclimb Series in the ‘70’s.
I am really looking forward to being a member of the v303FG, v303FS and the KC Hawgs, and meeting each of you. Be prepared for a lot of questions.
