v93rd FS Homestead AFB, Fl (FM) 'MAKOS' - HAVEGLASS Depot Upgrade Complete

Screen_230321_162417.jpg

ALCON,
On Jan 1st, 2023 - we sent out a request for our old airframes to be overhauled https://www.v303rdfightergroup.com/...-fm-makos-liveries-depot-upgrade-request.480/ Our airframes have been "used and abused", with tons of real world heritage and history tied to each tail number allotted to the v93 FS. A solid maintenance strip down and overhaul was well overdue!

Boomba Boomba stepped up to the plate, to oversee and be primary liaison with the upgrade process. He has volunteered somewhere between 100-200 man hours into installing the new HAVEGLASS paint. Please join me with thanking him for this extremely kind contribution to the v303 FG, and v93 FS! We will cherish these liveries for years to come, and it will truly bring another handmade unique piece of content that cant be found anywhere else. Thank you again Boomba!

Please find the NOTAM here: https://www.v303rdfightergroup.com/index.php?threads/updated-f-16c-skin-pack-21mar23.794/
(All v303 FG members will be required to delete the old v93 FS skins, and install these prior to next sortie!)
As more F-16C students pass their SA CR, their skin requests will be updated and added into the NOTAM upgrade cycle.

Overall vision:
  • AFRC USAF authentic-minded
  • Realistic as possible, with weathering and details
  • Standard default linejet low-viz livery (this will be the skin used by Students by default until they are able to be granted their own custom nose art) Serial numbers will only be at IFR port, and Tail.
  • Standard established member low-viz livery (this will be the template for members that have been granted their own allotted tail number and nose art in the squadron)
  • v93 FS Flagship high-viz livery (this will be reserved and secondary to our default skins. "Wing King")

HAVEGLASS is the code name for a series of RCS reduction measures for the F-16 fighter. Its primary aspect is the addition of an indium-tin-oxide layer to the gold tinted cockpit canopy. This is reflective to radar frequencies, while it may seem odd, adding a radar reflective coating actually reduces the plane's visibility to radar. An ordinary canopy would let radar signals straight through where they would strike the many edges and corners inside and bounce back strongly to the source, the reflective layer dissipates these signals instead. Overall, Have Glass reduces an F-16's RCS (radar-cross section) by some 15 percent.

Bill Campenni always carried along a scraggly stuffed panda bear for 20 years and over 3,000 hours. Both bear and pilot are now in retirement in Virginia.
