Class 25-01 Training Brief

Welcome to Class 25-01, student pilots. You’re joining the v303rd Fighter Group at Nellis AFB, operating across the Nevada Training Range (NTTR)—one of the premier simulated training environments in DCS. Whether you’re flying the F-16 Viper or A-10 Warthog, this training is your gateway to mastering your hobby craft. The purpose of the v303rd Fighter Group’s training program in the NTTR is to train and qualify our aircrews through a logically healthy progression within this hobby. The NTTR facilitates that in a simulated range environment, and our overall objective in Nevada is to “provide a safe, simulated combat environment that allows participants to employ composite force tactics against strategic and tactical targets defended by challenging, integrated virtual air defense systems.”

Training Objectives​

• B-Course Pilots: You’re here to build foundational skills—aircraft handling, aircraft admin skills, and tactical fundamentals. Expect a steep but rewarding learning curve as you transition from classroom to cockpit.
• MQT Pilots: Your focus is mission readiness—integrating into multi-ship formations, executing complex strike packages, and mastering JTAC coordination, SEAD/DEAD, Air Combat Basic Training ect. You’ll be held to operational standards as you prep for the future virtual combat deployments.

Operating Environment​

• Nevada Training Range (NTTR): Spanning thousands of square miles, this range offers diverse terrain—mountains, valleys, and desert flats—ideal for low-level ingress, pop-up attacks, and defensive maneuvering. Restricted airspace (R-2508 complex) ensures freedom to train hard, but stay sharp on boundaries.
• Threat Simulation: Expect scripted SAMs (SA-2, SA-6, SA-11 ect.), AAA, and enemy CAP flown by DCS AI aggressor squadrons. Red Flag-inspired LFE (large force exercise) scenarios may be in play.
• Sortie Schedule: Currently at Nellis, typical flight night ops tempo is Thursdays at 1900 EST, though the range is open daily for members to register a flight plan for additional practice. Your hobby participation is often part of our FG’s “work-up” to prepare for the next virtual deployment down-range. B-Course pilots will focus on single-ship and two-ship profiles; MQT pilots, expect two- to four-ship CAS, STRIKE, CAP and SEAD taskings. Debriefs are up to your time permitting, but no stress if you need to get off after a flight. Feel free to debrief through text via Discord or Forums.
• Nellis AFB: Home plate for all ops. Check NTTR IFG for RWY layout and Freqs. Fuel and weapons loadouts will be pre-coordinated by flight leads—check your MDC kneeboard for specifics.

Safety and Admin​

• Emergency Procedures: Divert options include Creech AFB or Tonopah if needed. Know your ejection envelope—don’t ride a bad jet into the dirt. Check IFG for more info.
• Debrief: Every accredited sortie ends with a hot wash posted via the Forums on your training tacker thread. Bring your A-game—notes, HUD tapes, and honesty. Mistakes are fine; we are all here to have fun and continue learning the hobby.
• Hydrate: Nevada’s dry. Water’s in the ready room. Don’t be the guy who passes out mid-sortie.
